New advantageous distribution tariff for CNG filling stations

Bratislava, 23 December 2011 – the distribution network operator, company SPP– distribúcia, a.s. will begin to apply a new advantageous distribution tariff for CNG filling stations in terms of price conclusion of the Regulatory Office for Network Industries. New advantageous tariff is lower than current rates by 25 % in individual components.

Compressed natural gas – CNG is an economical, safe and ecological fuel, which is being increasingly preferred by motorists throughout the Europe. In Slovakia, alternative engine fuel CNG is used mainly in mass transport, but its application is spreading among businessmen and individual motorists as well.

“Through implementation of an advantageous tariff for filling stations CNG, SPP – distribúcia, a.s. as a socially responsible subject brings such business solution into practice, which will be regardful and considerate to the environment to a maximum extent. Our company has thereby decided to actively support the development of CNG filling stations in Slovakia. We also want to persuade potential customers about the economical appeal of this alternative engine fuel CNG,” pointed out director of distribution services section, SPP – distribúcia, a.s., Marek Paál.

Benefits of new advantageous distribution tariff for CNG filling stations:

  • new CNG tariff has obvious economic advantages, which are projected in the saving of fuel costs,
  • New CNG tariff supports the thesis of the White Book on European transport policy, which has been adopted by the European Commission and pursuant to which up to 10 % of liquid fossil fuels will be replaced by compressed natural gas CNG in transportation by 2020,
  • New CNG tariff supports the use of CNG – pure natural product based on natural gas. During the combustion of CNG there are almost no carbon particles and the amount of CO2 emissions leaking into the air is significantly smaller in comparison to classic engine fuels (vehicles using CNG can park also in underground garages).

In order to apply the CNG distribution tariff, the off-take site of a CNG filling station must fulfil these conditions set by SPP – distribúcia, a.s.:

  • annual contractual consumption of natural gas of more than 60 000 m3,
  • tariff only applies to CNG produced/delivered from the CNG filling station for motor vehicles using CNG drive,
  • each consumer, who requests the application of the advantageous distribution tariff for the CNG filling station is obliged to request the application of this tariff through his supplier of natural gas.
