One of main activities of the company is the connection of new customers to the distribution network and related development of infrastructure in a manner to ensure the distribution of required volumes of natural gas on time and under suitable pressure conditions in the network. In all development activities the company has to respect the legal framework that determines rights and obligations of the distribution network operator as regulated entity. For the purposes of transparent and non-discriminatory treatment of customers the company SPP – distribúcia defines its policy of investment in connection and development projects. Main objective of this policy is to motivate new customers to natural gas offtake and ensure the return on investment in the development of the network.
The extensive distribution network with a total length of more than 32 000 km requires continuous management, monitoring, maintenance, diagnostic and reconstruction. One of priorities of the company is the enhancement of overall effectiveness of gas distribution while maintaining an adequate level of safety of the distribution network operation. It places high requirements on the optimization of reconstruction and development programmes including the updating and operational calculations of hydraulic conditions in the network, development activity monitoring, introduction of new materials and technologies in the implementation of reconstruction and development programmes, improvement of methods of evaluation of gas pipeline condition, decommissioning of redundant gas pipelines, etc. Regularly updated conceptions of optimal development of the distribution network take into account medium and long-term requirements of the market.
The company continuously improves diagnostic procedures, modernizes technologies in the framework of operation and maintenance and increases investments in safety and restoration of the development of the distribution network. All activities in the area of strategy of development of the distribution network are aimed to ensure a high standard of distribution network comparable with developed EU countries.
