SPP ensures reliable distribution of natural gas through its distribution network to end consumers, their connection to the distribution network and measurement of gas consumption
Connection to distribution network
The improvement of services as a part of the process of connection to the distribution network is one of key priorities of the company. SPP – distribúcia has initiated the Customer Contact project with the aim to optimize services provided to customers in the process of connection. Its main objective is to simplify the process of connection of new gas facilities to our network. Through the Customer Line for Connection to Distribution Network the professional operators will ensure all required contacts with SPP – distribúcia. The Customer Line was put into pilot operation in March 2010. A part of the Customer Contact project is the setting up of four Customer Offices for the regions of Bratislava, Žilina, Nitra and Košice

From the total number of municipalities in Slovakia 77% are gasified and account for 94% of total population of Slovakia.
Strategy of development of distribution network
The company SPP – distribúcia is operator and owner of the distribution network, including technological objects – gas regulation stations. Main business activities of the company are connection of new customers to the distribution network and related development of infrastructure in a manner to ensure the distribution of required volumes of natural gas in time and under corresponding pressure conditions in the network. In all its development activities our company has to respect the legal framework determining the rights and obligations of distribution network operator as regulated entity. In the effort to ensure the transparent and non-discriminatory treatment of customers the company SPP – distribúcia defines its policy of investment in connection and development projects with the aim to motivate new customers to gas consumption and to achieve the return on investment in the development of the network. The size of the distribution network – more than 32 000 km – requires its continuous management, supervision, maintenance, diagnostic and reconstruction. One of priorities of the company is to increase the overall effectiveness of gas distribution, while maintaining an adequate level of safety of distribution network operation. It puts high requirements on the optimization of reconstruction and development programmes including the updating and operational calculations of hydraulic conditions of the network, monitoring the development activities, introduction of new materials and technologies for reconstruction and development programmes, upgrading of methodology for the evaluation of gas pipeline condition, decommissioning of redundant gas pipelines, etc. The regularly updated conceptions of the optimal development of the distribution network take into account medium and long-term market requirements. All activities on the field of the strategy of development of the distribution network are aimed to the achievement of a high standard of distribution network comparable with developed EU countries.
